Response on Drinking (13)

In response to the U.S. News & World Report article, "A Host of Trouble" I will be writing about some of the thought provoking things.

I do not agree with what the critics are saying about social host laws, and how they will end teen drinking. In some cases it it true that it was the parents were responsible for the drinking, but in most of the cases the parents had nothing to do with it at all. By punishing the parents it might give a guilt trip to some of the teens and make them stop but for the majority the laws wont help at all.

The parents should not be held responsible for their teenagers party's, drinking and drunk-driving. That does not mean that the parents shouldn't try to discipline the teens early on and when they have done something wrong. I think the teens should have to pay the full penalty. Because if the parents always are taking responsibility then the teens will never learn how to do it themselves.

The main effects of parents allowing teen drinking is that of course it is not good for them physically, and they might get killed themselves or they might even kill some one else in drunk driving. Also drinking in general is not good, so their are lots of family related problems that can come up on the future.

Here is some advise to parents who want to stop teenage drinking. First of all you need to be and example. If the teen sees you partying and drinking he or she will want to do the same think. Second you really need to crack down on them if you see any sins of drinking. Just straight up tell them that you don't want them to drinking, and them follow through with what you said.

Holiday Memories (14)

Well the holidays are coming up pretty soon, so i figured that I'd write about some of my favorite holiday memories.

Christmas is one of my favorites because that's when my distant family and I get to hang out and have a good time. The most memorable Christmas memory was last year when all my family came to my grandma's house in Lincoln, Nebraska. On Christmas Day my uncles and cousins and I decided to go to the park and play football. We had a great time playing in the crisp winter air. It was awesome to spend quality time with my family.

My least favorite holiday is Halloween. One reason is because it is the Devil's holiday, but the main reason is because it was the day my Uncle got into some trouble. It all happened on October 31 about six years ago when my family still lived in Norway. That evening we got a call from my grandma who told us what had happened. On my Uncles way home from being with some friends he had accidental hit two boys who were out "trick or treating", killing one and braking the legs of the other. It was dark so he thought he had hit some trash cans so he just kept on driving. Later on that evening the Cops came and arrested my uncle and put him in prison for manslaughter.

My uncle is not a Christian so please pray for him as he is in prison.

Stuck to Myself (12)

If it weren't for Hay-Hay's enormous love for constructing things out of duct-tape, I wouldn't be stuck in this pickle.

One day she asked me to be her model for a suit she was going to construct. After previous experience with the construction of several random items, i knew this would be a sticky situation.

Half way through the assembly it just wasn't what she had planned, so she pretty much ditched me and that's how I ended up duct-taped to myself.

Greatness-- For Now or Eternity (11)

On this earth when someone achieves something big or reaches a goal, they are considered famous and great. But I think as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said, "greatness is achieved by service" he brings out a very good point. Greatness should not be determined by what or how much one has done, but why you did it.

We as Christians should never do something for the ''greatness" of this world but for the joy it will bring Jesus. We should not strive for the glory and praise of this world, but for the riches and praise we will receive in Heaven for our good deeds. Our main focus should be to make Jesus happy.

We Are All People (10)

Personally do not fully know the reasons or motives for the war in Iraq. First i was supposedly about the oil, then terrorism, and who knows what next. But theirs one thing I know, no matter how good of reasons or motives the U.S. government has, it does not give them a reason to kill innocent people. We grope over the fact that the almost 3,000 deaths and nearly 30,000 Americans have been injured in the war in Iraq. But what we don't hear about is the 655,000 Iraqi deaths so fare in the war and even more injuries. We don't hear about them do we? They are people. They do have feelings, families and rights just like us. Thy are people even though they are small in our society.
